Stars N' Bobbin Quilt
I am so excited to share with you my newest pattern, Stars N' Bobbins. This is a quilt that I designed to go with my first fabric line, Curated Blooms, which will release in November 2024. This quilt is an ultimate gift to me as a creator because I was able to design, piece, quilt (detailed quilting), and write this pattern showcasing my own fabric. It is a dream come true for me. It is the first pattern of my 6 pattern collection that I will be releasing this year.
I used two colors of thread for this quilt. I normally just use a cream or white thread for an entire quilt, but I felt that the colors of the fabric would not have looked great with the white thread. Gold colored thread was the better option for the colored fabrics in this quilt. I used 60wt Glide thread, my go-to thread right now. It is the perfect weight for my dense quilting. The above quilting is a simple double connect curve stitch with some ruler work.
The picture above showcases the beautiful fabric as well as the incredible quilting. I have always loved to implement secondary quilting designs when I am stitching and the large open border helps with that. The modern feel of the piecing gives an awesome look for the quilting, it seems to be hanging out in the background of the pieced block border. Inside the blocks, I kept the quilting simple with straight lines, connecting curves, and easy free-motion because I wanted to show off the fabric and not take away from the shape of the piecing design. The stars should stay stars!
As you can see in the picture above, the large border design is done in sections. I love the mixture of straight lines and curve lines because it creates an elegant look to the border. All of these designs are included in my pattern.
Don't be afraid to mark your quilts. I have done this for years, using the purple disappearing marker. It does disappear, but it comes out with a spritz of water as well. If you are in a high humidity area, these markers may not be the best for you. I used 3 markers for this quilt.
This border is just so beautiful. The area shown above in the photo is 10 hours of work for me. I am a bit slower and meticulous, so you may be able to quilt a little faster than me. There is about 40-45 hours of quilting for this quilt top.
I used a solid backing for the quilt and used a cream bobbin for the backing. I enjoy showing off the quilting whenever I have a chance.
The backing is absolutely beautiful when solid. It's a thread painting of the best kind! This is black and white picture above, I love the way it showcases the thread.
I have the paper pattern and PDF pattern available now, as well as a limited amount of quilt kits available for PREORDER.

This quilt blew me away. I adore that the quilting instructions are included. Helps those of us who are artistically challenged, but love the quilting process.
