Free Spirit Quilt

FS1

This quilt was so much fun to make. This is the second version of my Free Spirit quilt, I will be sharing the first version very soon.  Both quilts were a labor of love, but this version definitely went a lot faster because I chose an easier quilting design. The piecing itself does take a bit of time, but the overall look is definitely worth the effort. It is a beautiful quilt.

FS2

I used several fat quarters from different fabric collections to make this quilt.  If I liked the print, I put it in the quilt.  I love the fun variety of this quilt, it made me come out of my normal comfort zone of "just a few colors" in a quilt.  This is also the first time I use different shades of the background fabric.  You can see how the top of the quilt is lighter and ends up with the darker background fabric.  It gives the quilt a whole new look.  FS3

I quilted the top using Glide thread using my free-motion feather swirl as the design, it turned out so beautiful. It is always fun for me to quilt something fast, in between my crazy detailed quilting jobs.

FS4

The back is just as luscious the top.  I really loved how it turned out.  The binding is the best part of this quilt, in my opinion, because I used strips from the fabric I used in the quilt blocks.  That always gives a nice design element on quilt finishes.

Sweet Surrender Quilt

1
Okay, so it took me a little while to finish this quilt top.  It is amazing that I find I don't have as much time quilting as I would like, but I am making it work and the quilts I am privileged to work on are always so much fun.  This client quilt was no different.
The quilt is Beth's, and she did an amazing job with the applique and piecing. I always love working on her quilt tops. The quilt...

Carry All Tote remake...

1
After such a busy spring/summer teaching schedule, I was desperate to make things. Teaching is a wonderful thing that I get to do, but I am happiest when I am creating. So, this summer I finished my Metro Medallion, Just Call Me Modern and I wanted to make my Carry All Tote pattern again. This project was meant as a gift though, so it was a lot more fun to make. I planned on making 4 totes, but I...
